ebay runs one of the largest Hadoop deployment with several hadoop cluster totaling 6000+ nodes and still growing at rapid pace. We run many business critical data pipelines and workflow across our Hadoop clusters utilizing Mapreduce, Pig, Hive, Hbase, Spark, Streaming etc. Some of our most critical systems are powered by Hadoop and the use of hadoop for large scale data processing and storage has been continuously growing at ebay. As a Principal Hadoop Services Engineer, you will be part of central team located across 3 different continents building, managing and scaling this large hadoop infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Welcome to join eBay Hadoop Eagle team. Hadoop Eagle is an active monitoring system for eBay's Hadoop infrastructure to enable early error detection, troubleshooting, performance diagnostics, auto-remediation, failover and actionable alerting. eBay will incorporate more use cases such as job performance and root cause analysis, bad node detection, etc. Beyond that, eBay intents to publish it to the community.
Job Requirements:
Good understanding and experience with Hadoop internals, Pig, HCatalog, Oozie, Hive, HBase
Sound knowledge of SQL & No-SQL databases
Proficient in Java
Experience with agile development methodologies
Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, algorithms, data structures
Good problem solving skill and able to follow-through the problem
Knowledge of industry standards and trends
Excellent reading and writing English
