As a Visual Design - Intern, you will be responsible for defining and creating a visual appearance for the product that is appropriate for the target customer. Your primary responsibilities will be product visual identity, visual design patterns, application skinning, and illustrative graphics from icons to analytics, all within the miniature canvas of a mobile screen. This highly interactive canvas also invites lively, reactive, responsive graphics that bring the user experience to life. Though you will spend the bulk of your time designing product appearances appropriate to the target customer and nature of particular apps, there will also be opportunities to apply your print media and web design skills.
Responsibilities:
• First and foremost, an exceptional portfolio that demonstrates a varied range of work and your vibrant creativity.
• Able to turn concepts into concrete visuals quickly, then rapidly iterate those sketches into polished final designs.
• Experience producing final art in Adobe Fireworks and/or Illustrator.
• Extensive experience delivering ready-for-code final art to engineers.
• Visual design experience with web site projects, as well as complex consumer mobile applications.
• Create and manage a rich and deep library of UI screen assets to enable swift creation of mockups and prototypes as well as finished products.
• Experience with print (paper and ink) a plus.
• Actively contribute to product brainstorming and design sessions.
• Up-to-the-minute knowledge of graphic trends in print, software and multimedia.
Requirements:
• Candidates must have a solid understanding of user-centered design principles, careful attention to detail, as well as ability to grasp multiple product requirements.
• Competency with typography and color.
• Ability to prioritize and manage work to adhere to critical project timelines in a fast- paced environment.
• Some industry experience (corporate, software, web, agency experience) preferred, but not necessary.
• Pursuing a degree in Graphic Design, Human-Computer Interaction or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
