Education Content Specialist Sesame Workshop China Office
Job Description
Role: Education Content Specialist
Start Date: For immediate recruitment
Location: Shanghai, China

General Description
The Education Content Specialist reports to the Vice-President, Executive Director China, and is supervised by the Director of Education/Program Manager, China. The specialist would work closely with the Director of Education, and the broader Sesame China team to help coordinate, develop and ensure the quality of the Workshop’s educational content and related materials. The specialist would manage and support research, development and review of educational content created for Sesame China’s production, community engagement, and social media, among others. In activities, the specialist would work to employ the Sesame Workshop model. This is a full-time position.

Responsibilities
Administrative:
1. Oversees administrative aspects of educational development work including supporting the development of contracts and logistics planning as needed.
2. Supports effective communication with vendors and other stakeholders as needed, to ensure effective communication and exchange of ideas.
3. Assist with other tasks as assigned.

Educational Content:
1. Support the development and review of bilingual (English and Chinese) educational materials to support Sesame Workshop productions in China, including original productions, dubbing projects, classes and outreach programs. Specifically:
a. Support the development of educational objectives, related curriculum materials and guidelines to support productions, to help ensure that the team and other stakeholders understand the educational messages and ways to promote them in a culturally sensitive and age-appropriate fashion.
b. Reviews materials for media, including television, radio, outreach, print, products, etc. to assure that they maintain the educational integrity of the project’s educational objectives.
c. Assists in the organization of seminars, workshops and meetings to help develop educational content for the project, and works with colleagues to ensure the smooth operation of these events.
d. Participate in production processes as possible to help ensure implementation of curricular goals and educational messages.
Research:
1. Help conduct desk research on issues concerning media, young children, and early childhood development, particularly in China.
2. Lead on building and maintaining a knowledge library on the above.
3. Support research activities and projects, including through coordination with partners and vendors, and participation in design and review of research processes as possible.

Outreach:
1. Support design and development of community engagement programs, working closely with partners and global colleagues as appropriate.
2. Support coordination and communication with various stakeholders as needed.

Social Media:
1. Work with colleagues to continually improve and implement the social media plan targeting
families and specific stakeholders, including leading on content development and posting.

Desired qualifications
1. A bachelor or higher degree in early childhood education, education, psychology, child development or other relevant social sciences.
2. 1 or 2 years of working experience in the field of education preferred.
3. Bilingual, with strong Mandarin.
4. A strong interest in the production of quality and enriching media and programs for young children, particularly in China.
