Gallery Assistant (Shanghai)
Responsibilities
• To mann the gallery on a day-to-day basis during:
- Opening Hours (11:00 to 19:00 Tuesdays to Sundays, 1 hour meal break)
- Exhibitions and events (including set-up)
- Private viewing appointments with VIPs, press, key contacts, etc.
• Generate art sales at the gallery
• Processing of sales payments, generate invoices, maintain sales records, etc.
• Ensure delivery of art works to buyers in good order
• Build and maintain database of clients, art collectors, art enthusiasts, artists, key contacts, etc. for direct mail and marketing use.
• Maintain regular communication and friendly relations with @ Gallery Suite and T-Gallery staff members
• Preparation of event invites in English & Chinese
• Preparation of art labels and artist information in English & Chinese
• Translation of relevant gallery information e.g. press releases from English to Chinese
• Photography during gallery events & exhibitions
• Prepare gallery news updates in English for the Galerie Junger newsletter
• Update list of available works, Chinese artists’ contact information, CVs (English & Chinese) on a regular basis.
• Public Relations: generate interest in the gallery among the local community, press, etc. to increase traffic to the gallery
• Trade fairs: attend relevant fairs and gather market intelligence, make contact with new artists
• Maintain a neat and clean environment in the gallery
• Ensure proper care and handling of all art works, gallery supplies and equipment.
Education
Diploma or degree is required, preferably in the arts or related fields.
Language
• Fluency in verbal and written Chinese is required.
• Fluency in verbal and written English is required.
• Competency in any other languages is an advantage.
Skills
• Proficient in the use of MS Office programmes, particularly Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
• Able to prepare simple Profit & Loss statements

• Possess an innate interest / passion for Art.
• Outgoing personality
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills, able to connect with people from all walks of life
• Related experience not required, but would be an advantage.
• Able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy.
• Able to work well under pressure, organizing events and achieving art sales.
• Independent and self-motivated
• Trustworthy, with a high level of integrity
• Displays enthusiasm, dedication and support for continuous improvement.
• A natural and hospitable demeanor with good grooming
