Job Description:
•        SSD/ eMMC Firmware Intern     嵌入式软件实习工程师               
Description:
As an intern working for SSD/eMMC firmware team in Micron’s Shanghai Memory System Development group, you will contribute in the development of industry leading controller firmware for NAND-based mass storage products. In this position, you will assist the core firmware team in designing, testing, debugging advanced controller firmware for SSDs/eMMC. You can also expect to work closely with fellow US product engineers, system hardware design engineers, and Flash memory design engineers to solve cross-functional design issues.

Your responsibilities will include operating hardware / software based testing platforms, and developing structured testing solutions. Additionally, you will verify design using a variety of verification methods, including simulation, code prototyping, and product testing. Your focus will also be on firmware quality in the system and the target application. As needed, you will assist in developing new test tools and methods. Using analysis equipment or software, you will effectively investigate and pinpoint firmware and hardware functional or performance issues in test environments or target host systems.

Outstanding performance in this position can lead to full time employment by Micron.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates for this position will have:
•     At least third year or higher university student majoring in computer science or computer / electrical engineering.
•     Experience in programming using assembly and C language.
•     Experience in software debugging, problem creation and trapping.  
•     The ability to find creative solutions to difficult problems.
•     Quick learner with high level of self-motivation, and dedication.
•     Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team.
•     Ability to multitask effectively in fast-paced environment.
•     Knowledge of digital hardware design (optional but plus)
•     Experience in test equipment such as oscilloscopes and logic/bus analyzers (optional but plus).
•     Experience in ARM9, and ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse, and Realview (optional but strong plus).Knowledge of mass storage systems (hard disk), Flash memory (NAND / NOR), and device drivers (optional but strong plus).
•     Knowledge of mass storage interfaces such as ATA, SATA, and/or SAS/FC (optional but strong plus).

In this position, you will be part of the team that design, and implement firmware solutions for these target markets. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with fellow US based firmware engineers and system hardware design engineers, product engineers, Flash memory design engineers, to solve cross-functional design issues.

Your main responsibilities will include: develop structured and clearly commented source code, test and qualify your firmware module for integration; ensure relevant technical information is documented, organized, and analyzed; propose innovation, projects / products. Your focus will be on firmware performance and reliability in the system and the target application. As needed, you will develop new test tools and methods. Using analysis equipment or software, you should demonstrate ability to effectively analyze and resolve functional or performance issues with the firmware and hardware in test environments or target host systems. You will also have opportunity to participate in product architecture definition and module design.

Qualifications:
Successful candidates for this position will have:
•     At least three years or equivalent experience in embedded firmware development.
•     Strong firmware design and debug experience using assembly and C programming.  
•     Strong skill in ARM9, and ARM development tools and IDE such as Eclipse, and Realview.
•     High level of skill in problem recreation and trapping, and in identifying performance critical algorithms for optimization.
•     Quick learner with high level of self-motivation and dedication.
•     Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team, able to multitask effectively in fast-paced environment.
•     Knowledge of mass storage systems (hard disk), Flash memory (NAND / NOR), and device drivers (optional but strong plus).
•     Knowledge of mass storage interfaces such as ATA, SATA, and/or SAS/FC (optional but strong plus).

Successful candidates for this position will have:
•     At least five years or equivalent experience in embedded firmware development or testing.
•     Meticulous and attention to details, patience and passion, strive to ensure maximum test cases coverage.
•     Clear headed, goal oriented, systematic and methodical approach in firmware testing, follow through every bug from discovery to resolution.
•     Ability to enter clear and concise documentation is a must.
•     Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team, able to multitask effectively in fast-paced environment.
•     Strong firmware testing and debug experience (Drivemaster, Flexstart scripting, automated testing experience strong plus).
•     Prior firmware debugging experience, and understanding of firmware testing flow or methodology (optional but strong plus).
•     Knowledge of mass storage systems (hard disk), Flash memory (NAND / NOR), and device drivers (optional but strong plus).
•     Experience in storage test equipment such as flexstar, drive master (optional but strong plus).
•     Knowledge of mass storage interfaces such as ATA, SATA, and/or SAS/FC (optional but strong plus).

Responsibilities:
•   Design and support of standard circuits for all DRAM products and process nodes.
•   Work with all design teams around the world on implementation of standard circuits. Help drive layout, post-layout simulations, and proper placement and hookup of standard circuits.
•   Work with Product Engineering and Modeling groups to verify and work out simulation to silicon correlations and improvements for future design methodologies.
•   Work with Process integration, Modeling, Product Engineering, Marketing and Applications in development of new circuit solutions with the upcoming process nodes and part development.
•   Work with Design and Product Engineering to develop improved low power solutions for mobile market.
•   Work with Alpha and test chips on experimental circuit solutions for use as potential future standard solutions.
•    Support all active designs whenever issues may arise is silicon.
•    Work with Applications Engineering on spec creation and JEDEC spec change requests.
•   Work with Competitor Analysis groups to understand alternative solutions used by our competition.

Requirements:
•   Strong English communication skills both verbally and written.Must be able to explain technical issues in English to a wide range of people and groups.
•    Capable to do research and propose creative ideas independently.
•   BS in EE is a must. MS or PhD is preferred.
•   Previous analog design and debugging experience are must to have.
•   Previous high speed I/O design experience is preferred.
•   Analog & high-speed I/O design experience with emphasis on low voltage & power solutions would be a benefit
•    Previous hands-on analog layout experience is a plus.
•   Verilog knowledge and coding skills are plus.
•   Start a day’s work in early morning (7am) to have enough overlap with other design centers around the world.
